Former Deputy Municipal State Attorney in the Municipal Civil State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb Renata Cvrčić Hornsć accused of influence peddling did not appear in court due to anxiety and fears, while her husband, architect Reuf Drljević did not receive the call. For this reason, the hearing at the County Court in Zagreb was postponed until October, and the president of the court panel ordered a psychiatric examination to determine whether the former prosecutor’s absence was justified.
Namely, Neven Gotal, the lawyer of the accused Cvrčić Hornsć he submitted an e-mail to the court, which he stated he received the day before from his client. It contains, we learn, an outpatient report dated the day before the hearing, from which it follows that the former prosecutor, dismissed from her duties in September 2024, is unable to appear in court due to anxiety and fears.
– This is no excuse for not appearing at the hearing – said the judge and ordered the defense attorney to submit his client’s medical documentation to the court within three days for a psychiatric examination. If it is determined that the absence was not justified, the court could order her to be brought to the next hearing. Apart from the accused spouses, none of Reuf Drljevi’s two lawyers came to the hearing. The lawyer who represented him in the investigation received a summons, but he did not appear, and the newly elected lawyer did not receive it.
At the next indictment, it will be necessary to testify about the amended description, which Uskok submitted to the court after Goran Dzcaronepina, who was also charged in this case, settled with Uskok in October 2025. A construction entrepreneur from Lošinj admitted to paying bribes for influence peddling and was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a probationary period of four years. He also had to pay 600 euros in court costs.
According to the verdict, he was accused of being with Renata Cvrčić Drljevi, then the deputy of the ODO, agreed that she would put pressure on people in the Ministry of Spatial Planning, in order to speed up the resolution of his case. It was about the purchase of state-owned real estate in Sveti Jakov on Lošinj, specifically Džepina caught the eye of a house with a yard of a total area of 174 square meters and another yard of seven square meters.
Džepina had a decision on the finished condition and the established architectural structure, i.e. he fulfilled the legal prerequisites for the purchase, but everything fell through, so the entrepreneur came to his wife through the architect Drljevic. Although there were no grounds for the ODO’s action, the former prosecutor used her position and influence to speed up his case.
Uskok claims that she personally called some officials, confirmed the valuation of the real estate, and claims that she demanded the drafting, signing, certification and delivery of the sales contract, as well as the issuance of a tabular document. For this, she demanded a bribe of EUR 3,000 from Džepa, which he handed over to her wife on two occasions until October 7, 2023.
