Event industry: Berlin is planning a central service point for events

Congresses, major sporting events, the Carnival of Cultures and the Lollapalooza Festival attract guests from home and abroad. In 2025, around 13.7 million people came to around 87,000 events in the capital. They secure jobs and strengthen the retail, catering and hotel industries, as the economic administration argues.

Service point should work across authorities

The planned inter-agency service point is a central component for the further development of Berlin as an events metropolis. It is intended to be the first point of contact to provide advice, explain responsibilities and provide information about required documents and timelines. In addition, guidelines, checklists and a central information portal are intended to make orientation easier for organizers.

“Berlin can host major events. We are already one of Europe’s leading event metropolises,” said Economics Senator Franziska Giffey (SPD). “But we also see that processes for organizers, guests and Berliners need to be improved in order to bring successful events to the capital or keep them here.”
