First execution in Kuwait since 2017, women among hanged

In Kuwait, seven convicts were executed, including four citizens of the country, as well as citizens of Ethiopia, Pakistan and Syria. Two of those executed are women. All of them were hanged.

This is the first execution in Kuwait since January 2017. Then seven people were also hanged, including a prince of royal blood. Prior to this, the death sentence was carried out in 2013. The main charges on which it is issued are murder and drug trafficking.

The death penalty is widespread in the states of the Middle East. The leaders are Iran and Saudi Arabia. In March 2022 alone, 81 people were executed in Saudi Arabia.
