Pavel Travnicek: “Cinderella” prince no longer wants to be a prince | Regional

Annaberg-Buchholz (Saxony) – Very few people know that actor Pavel Trávníček has appeared in many other roles in recent decades. For most, the native Czech remains just the romantic fairy tale prince from “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella”, who rides up and down every Christmas on TV, even 50 years after it was first broadcast.

And that’s exactly what Pavel Trávníček doesn’t feel like doing anymore! To be more precise: he would much rather finally rise in the line of succession – from prince to king!

“I wish not to be the eternal prince, but also to slip into the role of the king,” revealed the 72-year-old now at the international fairy tale festival “Fabulix” in Annaberg-Buchholz. There he was honored for his life’s work.

Even if he can retire a bit at his age, he’s still waiting for exactly this film offer: “I’m still open to appearances in film and television,” emphasized Trávníček.

The fact that he is repeatedly asked about the role of the young prince in East German films, although he has acted in many other films since then, does not bother him. “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have been able to star in such a successful film at a young age that has become a cult following over the years,” he said.

Along with Libuše Šafránková (†68) as Aschenbrödel Pavel Trávníček told one of the most beautiful love stories in one of the most successful fairy tale films of all time.

Even if his heart wasn’t quite as warm: “The cold during the shooting has remained unforgettable to me,” says the prince. Because the film was actually planned for summer, but was then postponed to winter.

By the way, this Christmas he wants to surprise with something new on German television. But he didn’t want to reveal any more details. One thing is clear: It’s probably not a role as a king …
