UAE Foreign Minister Expresses Readiness to Cooperate with Russia

Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Energy security, the regional situation, military operations in Ukraine were discussed.

The guest from the UAE stated that the Emirates are ready to cooperate in Russia in improving global energy security. He said that it is necessary to ensure the stability of prices for fuel and food. He also said that his state was ready to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the “Ukrainian crisis.”

The United Arab Emirates, along with Saudi Arabia, has rejected a US request to increase oil production to offset losses caused by anti-Russian sanctions. The UAE announced that they would follow the quota agreement, under which Russia is also signed.

The Emirates refused to join the anti-Russian sanctions, the Emirates abstained when a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was put up for a vote at the UN.
