Tesla delivers a record number of cars in the first quarter

US electric car maker Tesla delivered a record 310,048 vehicles globally in what owner Elon Musk described as an “extraordinarily difficult” first quarter, as demand from many consumers shifted to electric cars.

The results slightly exceeded expectations. Economic analysts had expected 309,158 cars to be shipped, based on average estimates compiled by Bloomberg News.

Fluctuations in COVID-19 infection rates and global restrictions continue to affect supply and logistics chains.

The car company temporarily suspended production at its factory in Shanghai, starting last month, after the city implemented a closure due to the deteriorating conditions of the Corona outbreak.
