An Israeli company will market domestic biogas systems to Europe

Since Russia’s war with Ukraine, European countries have entered a race against time to arm themselves, not just with weapons – but mainly with alternative energy sources for Russian fossil gas, which supplies almost half of the continent’s electricity. Biogas is a gas produced from organic matter, and is considered a source of renewable energy for the production of electricity that replaces the use of mineral fuels such as oil and gas.

Home Biogas is an Israeli cleantech company engaged in the development, production and marketing of home-made energy production systems from organic waste, similar to the solar panels installed on the roofs of private homes that can generate electricity for themselves. Now the European market is also open to this advanced Israeli industry.

Initiated and led by Israel, last week the international standardization organization CEN announced the adoption of the international standard ISO 23590 for domestic biogas systems as a European standard, an achievement that will allow blue-and-white domestic biogas systems to be exported to EU countries.

The preparation of the standard in the international arena was led by the Israeli Standards Institute together with Home Biogas, which represents Israel in the International Standards Committee.
The presidency of the European Union recently announced that it intends to replace 150 billion cubic meters of Russian gas with gas from other sources, and the intention is to double tenfold by 2030 the production of electricity from biogas across the continent.

Home Biogas CEO Oshik Efrati says: “The global energy crisis, even in the wake of the war in Ukraine, has led governments around the world to look for green energy solutions. We have harnessed our experience and expertise to promote a uniform standard that will help adopt solutions that know how to treat organic waste and turn it into green energy, thus also significantly reducing carbon emissions. We are proud of that. ”
