An elderly British woman found a small hedgehog lying motionless on the side of the road. She picked him up and tried to warm him up, and in the morning she took the animal to the veterinary hospital. There, doctors quickly realized that the find was a pom-pom made of faux fur.

“That day it was the first call. The woman reported that she had found a small hedgehog and picked it up so that it would not freeze. We thought it strange it was not their breeding season,” the New York Post quotes the clinic’s chief physician, Janet Kotz.

“When I opened the box, I thought: this is definitely not a hedgehog, but some other animal. I took him in my arms, and then everything became clear to me,” the doctor said. The visitor did not forget to put food in the box.

When she told the woman it was a pompom, she became very embarrassed and quickly left the clinic, taking the box with the pompom. “It’s necessary – such a noble heart,” Kotz noted.
