Fourteen killed in bus-truck collision in Bolivia

Fourteen people have died and two others have been injured in an accident between a bus and a truck in Bolivia. The collision happened on a busy road in the southwest of the country, the police reported.

The fatalities are nine women, four men and a minor, a local police official told the press.

The driver of the truck, which was loaded with salt, is said to have crossed the road and collided with the oncoming bus. The man was taken to hospital and is under police surveillance. According to another police officer, the accident was due to, among other things, excessive speed, lack of caution and failure to respect traffic rules.

There were fifteen people on board the bus, including the driver who died in the accident.
