Ukraine says Russia is preparing major counteroffensive for “end of May”

The spokesman for the Presidency of Ukraine, Andrei Yermak, has ventured that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, could launch a new counteroffensive by “the end of May or beginning of June”, which is why he has insisted that the agreements be closed as soon as possible. to receive new “air defense systems.”

“We know that Putin is preparing a new wave of mobilization and we calculate that new Russian counteroffensive operations could begin at the end of May or beginning of June. We have to be prepared for it,” he said in an interview with the American media ‘Politico’. .

In that sense, he maintains that the attacks that Russia has been launching on Ukrainian territory in the last three weeks are part of a plan to prepare for a greater offensive that could have the city of Kharkiv, the second largest, as its main one, and main focus of Moscow attacks.

“We urgently need additional air defense systems because without them it is impossible to defend our cities,” said Yermak, who has urged US congressmen to approve the economic and weapons aid package that is still blocked in Congress.

“The problem for us is time. I would like to emphasize that we are now at a critical moment. It is very important that the package be approved this month,” urged the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Presidency.
