“Belgian teenager (16) died after accident during skiing holiday in Italy”

A 16-year-old Belgian boy has died after an accident in the Italian ski area Via Lattea. Italian media reported this on Friday evening. The family has given permission for organ donation.

The boy was skiing with his family on the 2,700-metre-high Monte Fraiteve mountain on Thursday when he lost control of his skis around 1.30pm. Presumably he suddenly became unwell, causing him to hit the ground hard and end up outside the track. His family immediately raised the alarm, after which rescue services arrived on the scene and took him by helicopter to the hospital in Turin.

He was resuscitated in the intensive care unit and was in a life-threatening condition. On Friday evening, Italian media wrote that he had died.
