Russia, attack on Moscow synagogue foiled. ISIS alarm in the US

Russia foiled an attack on a synagogue in Moscow. The FSB, the Russian Federal Security Service, announced that it had prevented a terrorist attack. The Tass news agency reports this, explaining that the suspect was eliminated while offering armed resistance. “The FSB of the Russian Federation suppressed the criminal activities of a man from one of the Central Asian countries, who intended to carry out a terrorist attack in a Jewish religious institution in Moscow at a time of meeting between citizens,” we read in a note.

“The man was preparing to commit a terrorist act: he conducted reconnaissance in the area surrounded by one of Moscow’s synagogues and also purchased components to make an improvised explosive device. Stopped, the terrorist put up armed resistance and was neutralized by return fire”, observed the FSB. A ready-to-use improvised explosive device and other explosives were found and seized in his home.

USA, FBI alert for ISIS attacks

Russia was shaken in March by the attack on the Crocus concert hall, targeted by an ISIS commando which killed over 130 people. Security measures have been increased in the Russian capital, but the alarm over new attacks also extends to other countries.

“Now there is growing concern about the possibility of a coordinated attack here, of the type of that of ISIS-K that we saw in the concert hall in Russia a couple of weeks ago”, the alarm raised by the director of the FBI , Christopher Wray, in a hearing in the House of Representatives in Washington, in which he underlines however “the most immediate concern” is that of actions by lone wolves inspired by what is happening in the Middle East.

“Our most immediate concern is that individuals or small groups will be inspired by what is happening in the Middle East to conduct attacks here,” we read in the transcript obtained by Abcnews.
