Today's Europe may die, Macron warns

French President Emmanuel Macron made an extensive speech today, calling for a stronger and more integrated European defense.

“We are experiencing great changes in terms of security. Recent developments show the importance of anti-missile defense, long-range strike capabilities,” Macron said, stressing that it is necessary to have a reliable defense of the European region and warned that “today’s Europe can die.”

Macron has long called for European strategic autonomy, which implies less dependence on the United States. This position finds a wide response, especially in the background of the statements of Donald Trump, who submitted a bid to return to the White House, who accuses Europe of ensuring its security at the expense of the United States.
