Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Reza Ashtiani and stated that “Moscow is ready to expand military-technical cooperation with Tehran,” RIA Novosti reports.
The Iranian Defense Minister, in turn, said that “relations between Moscow and Tehran are reaching a new level, deepening and expanding.” Ashtiani also expressed gratitude to the Russian Defense Minister for “Iran’s support during the attack on the republic’s consulate in the capital of Syria.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your fair, honest position towards the Islamic Republic of Iran for your support during the attack on our consulate in Damascus, as well as for your balanced reaction to our proportionate response,” Ashtiani said.
