Robert Habeck and Theodor Storm haunt the Deutsches Theater

The cultural sector discovers Robert Habeck. But not as Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection – and therefore as the subject of a biopic or fictional political drama – but: as an author. In 2001, long before his time as a government politician, Habeck and his wife, the writer Andrea Paluch, wrote a novel that has now been simultaneously made into a film for television and adapted for the theater. It’s called “Hauke Haien’s Death” and, based on Theodor Storm’s 136-year-old novella “Der Schimmelreiter”, tells a contemporary story about natural disasters, belief in progress and the difficult relationship between humans and nature.
