Politico: The bill of sanctions against Azerbaijan was put into official circulation in the Congress

On Friday, more than two dozen American congressmen representing the Democratic and Republican parties put into official circulation the bill on imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan. The authors of the document are congressmen Dina Titus and Gus Bilirakis. This was reported by Politico magazine, noting that the bill envisages individual sanctions against more than 40 Azerbaijani officials and security forces.

According to the information of the Azerbaijani “Turan” agency, it was initially assumed that 41 names would be included in the list of American sanctions, but later the list was completed, increasing to 44.

The authors of the resolution propose imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan for continuous violations of human rights, including crimes against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

One of the authors of the document, Dina Titus, in a post in X, stated that sanctions against Azerbaijani officials should be imposed “due to the ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Artsakh and repression against the opposition”.
