An Israeli citizen has been under arrest in the emirate of Dubai for two weeks on suspicion of insulting a police officer. In addition, he is charged with insulting the Koran, although the detainee is a Muslim Arab.
According to ynet, the incident that led to the arrest occurred at a Dubai police station, where an Israeli went to file a complaint against a travel agent from whom he had purchased services. The police found an agent and he promised to come to the station to return the money paid.
When the agent did not return, an angry Israeli yelled at the police officer, stating, among other things, that “Israel is many times better than this shitty Dubai.” The police also claim that he shouted “Islam is evil.”
Note that this is not the first such incident. In February 2022, a resident of the Bedouin city of Rahat, who came on a pilgrimage to Mecca, was behind bars after he began to curse Saudi Arabia, and then announced that he “lives in Israel, the best country in the world.” The reason for the outburst of anger, which brought the Israeli to arrest, was the refusal of a local pharmacy to sell him medicine without a prescription.
