The United States and Russia exchanged a smuggler pilot for a rowdy student

Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was sentenced in the United States to 20 years in prison for attempting to smuggle drugs, was exchanged for American student Trevor Reed, who received nine years in prison for resisting Russian police.

Reed was detained in Moscow in August 2019. He was alleged to have quarreled on the street, but during the arrest he resisted and, according to the official protocol, after getting into the car, he attacked one of the policemen.

The American refused to admit his guilt, stating that he was drunk and did not remember anything. He also had to pay 100,000 rubles to injured policemen. The American was serving his sentence in Mordovia.
