“I’m not breaking anyone’s cover, because of the security people of EgyptAir On the plane they are not really hidden,” says Ben. “On the flight from Munich to Cairo that I was on, for example, there were four security personnel on the plane with a name tag, two of them sat behind me in the business class, one sat in the front of the business class and one sat in the tourist class. During the flight they didn’t do too much, they chatted with each other, ate meals on the plane and slept. They didn’t do anything other than that.”
He continues: “This is not the first time I have seen visible security guards in an airline. I previously flew with Royal Jordanian (Royal Jordanian) and it also had visible security guards, but unlike the Egypt Air security guards, it seems they had a reason, because they once again checked the personal equipment of suspicious passengers who boarded the plane. It seems a reasonable move – it adds a layer of protection. According to this logic, EgyptAir had no justification for being visible. They did nothing. I had quite a few questions during the flight.”
On most flights, as mentioned, the security guards are hidden and intervene and reveal their identity only when necessary. Recently, there have been complaints that budgetary problems prevent the training of air security guards, which prevents a security guard from being assigned to every flight in an Israeli company, as has been customary since time immemorial.
