U2 released more new songs that won’t fit on the upcoming album

Irish band U2 released new music over the Easter weekend. Easter Lily The ep release has six songs, and it was released only six weeks before Days of Ash – after the ep.

The fresh EPs are the first albums containing new music released at the end of 2017 Songs of Experience – after the album. The drummer has contributed to the recording break by Larry Mullen recovery from cervical spine surgery.

U2 announced already in May 2025 to have started recording a new album. The band decided to release the songs released now separately, and they will not be included in the album that will be released later.

In February came Days of Ash was strongly political in theme, yet fresh Easter Lily the songs deal with more personal themes such as friendship, spirituality and religiosity.

The names and release dates of the albums are also related to the events of the Christian church year. Days of Ash manifested on Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the 40-day Lent before Easter. Easter Lily was published on Good Friday.

Easter Lily has received in the world from critics good reception. The new songs have been compared to U2’s early production and 1980s hits. References to hits from 40 years ago have also been heard in the sound of the album.

U2: n the next album is expected to be released at the end of the year. The band has not yet given advance information about the next tour.
