Ffm, Bozzetti: “Proud to host the Women’s Ice Hockey World Cup in 2027″

“I welcome with great pride and satisfaction the awarding of the first division Women’s World Championships to Italy in 2027. A historic decision: never before has our country hosted an event of this magnitude in this discipline and this will happen in the Milan Ice Fiera Arena, a facility which concretely represents the Olympic legacy and which Fondazione Fiera Milano is building in Rho. It is further testimony to the validity of our choice, because without our facility, Milan would not have been able to obtain this great opportunity”. Thus Giovanni Bozzetti, president of the Fiera Milano Foundation.

“The Milan Cortina Olympics – adds Bozzetti – have rekindled the enthusiasm and passion for ice sports in Milan and we still have before our eyes the exciting scenes of the hockey competitions during those extraordinary weeks. This decision, therefore, can only confirm the goodness and effectiveness of the fruitful collaboration between the Fiera Milano Foundation, the Italian Ice Sports Federation and all the institutions in the field, and the assignment of the Women’s World Cup itself is a strong sign of recognition of this synergy”.

“Fondazione Fiera Milano – he continues – has strongly believed since the beginning in the Olympic spirit that pervaded the event and continues to make its contribution to ensuring that the flame of the Olympic Games is kept alive, with a view to continuity with them. For this reason, we have decided to transform the Olympic enthusiasm into a concrete and valuable work, in collaboration with institutions and stakeholders, creating, thanks to an investment of around 5 million euros, entirely supported by the Foundation, the facility in which the World Cup will take place: a real legacy that Fondazione Fiera Milano intends to help leave to the territory and citizens. Events of this type – concludes Bozzetti – not only strengthen the multifunctional vocation of the exhibition centre, but increase the international vocation of Milan, Lombardy and our country, bringing the general public, families and young people closer to the sport and entertainment that an event like the World Cup is certainly able to offer.
