Predatory extortion?: Arrests after searches in Berlin

One of the accused is temporarily released

An existing arrest warrant on suspicion of extortion led to the arrest of a 23-year-old. The other 23-year-old is to be taken into custody and will therefore be brought before an investigating judge on Friday. Only the 44-year-old was released. According to the public prosecutor’s office, there is strong suspicion against him, but there are no sufficient reasons for his arrest. Accordingly, there is no suspicion of escape.

Among other things, firearms confiscated

The “BAO Ferrum” investigators reportedly confiscated two live firearms and over a hundred rounds of ammunition. It was also said that several cell phones, drugs, precision scales and packaging material were seized. The search was carried out on behalf of the “Telum” investigation group of the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, as it was said.

The special unit “BAO Ferrum” is supposed to take action against violent groups and firearms crime. In order to strengthen the fight against organized crime, the “Telum” investigative group was set up at the end of February.
