Iran denounces to FIFA the travel restrictions imposed by the United States for the World Cup

The Iranian Football Federation has announced that it will file a complaint with FIFA over the strict entry and exit procedures established around its World Cup matches in the United States.

In a statement, the organization affirms that the restrictions imposed by the United States on its selection are incompatible with the principles of equal conditions for participating teams. The Iranian team was only allowed to travel from its base camp in Mexico on the eve of its first match in Inglewood, California, where it tied with New Zealand (2-2).

In this sense, they assured that they have not received permission to travel two days before their next match, which will be played on Sunday in the same stadium against Belgium.

Some members of the Iranian delegation have been denied entry to the United States altogether. Team officials claimed that FIFA president Gianni Infantino visited the Iranian team in the locker room after the match against New Zealand and offered to help them.

The United States and Iran have been in a military conflict since February. A framework agreement was signed on Wednesday with the aim of ending hostilities.
