ÖFB legend Hans Buzek has died at the age of 88, like the first Krone reported and then also announced by Vienna. Buzek was once one of the best strikers in the country. He made his national team debut on October 30, 1955 at the age of just 17 years and 161 days and played 42 international matches for Austria. He scored 9 goals for the ÖFB team.
Buzek was also a member of the team squad for the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.
Long career at traditional clubs
At club level, Buzek played for the four big Viennese clubs: at the age of 15 he made his debut with the Vienna (1950-1963). Afterwards he played at the Austria (1963-1967), at Wiener Sport-Club (1967-1969), at FC Dornbirn (1969/70) and at Rapid (1970-1972). His last stop as a player was Austria Klagenfurt (1972/73).
Buzek became Austrian twice Meister1955 with Vienna and 1963 with Austria. He got the violets twice Cupsieg (1963, 1967). In addition, the goal getter was Austrian twice Top scorer (1956 with 33 goals and 1966 with 17 goals).
After retiring, Buzek was a coach at Badener AC in the 1970s and also served as sports director at Vienna.
