1000 heat-related deaths in France

Extremely hot weather continues on the European continent. In areas where 191 million people live, temperatures exceeded 35 degrees Celsius. 381 million Europeans experienced temperatures above 30 degrees.

If a few days ago the greatest heat was observed in France, Spain, Italy and the UK, now it is Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. On June 26, a record was set in Germany – the temperature reached 41.3 degrees Celsius. Let us add that air conditioners are rare in Europe.

France’s health authority said the country had recorded 1,000 “excess” deaths since June 24. Doctors attribute this to the heat. 85% of deaths were over 65 years of age.
