MPS: Board of Directors approves offers on Banco Bpm and Banca Generali

The MPS board of directors has given the green light to the CEO’s proposal Luigi Lovaglio to launch two Ops on Banco Bpm and Banca Generali. The plan, according to what we learn, involves two separate offers and is an alternative to the takeover bid launched by Intesa Sanpaolo on Rocca Salimbeni in June. Within the MPS board there were four abstentions from the five independent directors. Paolo Boccardelli, Nicola Maione, Antonella Centra and Paola De Martini, the first three elected on the board of directors’ list and the last on that of Assogestioni, would have abstained. Corrado Passera would have instead voted in favor of the operation.

The MPS bank board of directors is still underway. On the board’s table, CEO Luigi Lovaglio’s options as alternatives to the Intesa Sanpaolo takeover bid. A takeover transaction with Banco Bpm and Banca Generali is being studied by the board of directors. In addition to the possibility of using the share that Rocca Salimbeni holds in Assicurazioni Generali (around 13%).

The Milan Stock Exchange closes slightly higher

Closing slightly higher for Piazza Affari while the banking risk is enriched by another page with Mps which, according to what we learn, has decided to launch a public exchange offer on Banco Bpm and Banca Generali. The Ftse Mib rises fractionally by 0.09% to 52,665 points.
