Rebecca Welch is the first woman to judge in the third round of the FA Cup
Englishwoman Rebecca Welch will become the first woman to judge the match of the third round of the FA Football Cup, the local media reported today.She will judge the duel between Birmingham and Plymouth, which is scheduled for January 8.

Earlier this year, Welch became the first woman to be appointed by the Football Association (FA) to referee a match of the English Football League (Herogate Port Vale).

The first female head referee in the English Football League (EFL) became Amy Firn in 2010, who replaced the injured referee Anthony Bates in the last 20 minutes of the Coventry Nottingham Forest match.

Teams from the Premier League have joined the competition since the third round of the FA Cup.
