Rail traffic severely disrupted in New Aquitaine after mudslides and cable theft

Mudslides, cable thefts… Rail traffic was severely disrupted this Wednesday, April 29 in New Aquitaine due to several incidents that occurred during the night, SNCF Voyageurs reported this morning on X.

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, mudslides caused by violent storms caused a “subsidence of the tracks near Orthez”. As a result, no train, TER or TGV, will run “until May 12” between Bayonne and Pau nor between Dax and Pau, announces the SNCF, while major repairs are carried out on the infrastructure.

Contacted by telephone, SNCF Voyageurs invites users of these two routes to “postpone their trip”.

Traffic interrupted between Bordeaux and Blanquefort

“Our teams are present in the stations. Customers will be contacted in the coming days. Alternative bypass routes will be offered to them,” specifies the railway operator.

In Gironde, the connection between Bordeaux and Blanquefort is also interrupted after a cable theft between Blanquefort and Bruges. “A technical team is on site to carry out the necessary repairs. Return to normal expected around 1:00 p.m.,” specifies SNCF Voyageurs.

Finally, a theft of cables at La Grave-d’Ambarès station has been “disrupting traffic” between Bordeaux and Libourne since this morning. “Line 41 (TER Bordeaux-Arcachon) is the most affected,” specifies SNCF Voyageurs sur X. A return to normal is expected around 2 p.m.
