Buildings on someone else’s property

The fact is: The bank has a maximum lien on the property of 5.5 million euros, but the liabilities should only amount to 3.9 million euros. An expert estimated the market value of the property at 5.23 million euros. According to reports, the bank made a binding offer to the liquidator for the right to build the property.

The property covers 6,566 square meters. The building was built in 2018 and has three floors and a usable area of ​​2,670 square meters. It is specifically tailored to Mediashop. Spatially separate from the media shop is a restaurant on the ground floor.

According to reports, the investor group around manager Patrick Schenner does not want to be dissuaded from their plans. Three weeks ago, the interested parties took over Mediashop’s business on a temporary basis.

30 employees are currently being retained. An increase in staff is planned. A short-term relocation of the company with its extensive IT systems and servers would present investors with major challenges. They hope that they can continue to use the property for a temporary transition period.

Exploitation of business assets

The realization of the business assets (asset deal) and the building rights is scheduled to take place this week. The group of interested parties submitted an offer for the Mediashop assets to the liquidator last week – without the property. According to reports, the liquidator Lentsch wants to implement them with the creditors’ committee this Thursday if both purchase offers are suitable.

The investor group continues to work on the restructuring of Mediashop. As reported, the company will ultimately become the market leader in TV shopping in Austria, Germany and Switzerland again. Instead of 172 TV channels, product advertising should only take place on up to 30 TV channels.

“The company is extremely important for Neunkirchen because it involves around 160 jobs,” says Neunkirchen Mayor Peter Teix (ÖVP) to the KURIER. “The accompanying effect is a corresponding income from local tax, which tears a hole in our budget. Currently 30 people are employed, if there is a continuation, then as many people will be employed.” Postscript: “Every more job is added value for Neunkirchen.”

51.5 million in debt

As reported, Mediashop GmbH slipped into bankruptcy at the end of February 2026. Sales fell sharply and debts rose to 51.55 million euros. The planned debt relief through a restructuring plan fell through and the company went bankrupt.
