Amdocs is expected to lay off about 3,000 employees. Estimates: hundreds in Israel

Amdocs is preparing for a wide round of layoffs around the world, during which the company is expected to say goodbye to about 10% of its global workforce, Globes has learned. According to estimates, this involves layoffs of between 2,700 and 3,000 workers worldwide, in which hundreds of workers in Israel may also be affected.

The layoffs come as part of a new strategy led by the company’s CEO Shimei Hortig, who took up his position about two months ago. This is a broad move designed to make Amdocs a flexible, efficient and less hierarchical company, along with adapting the work processes to the age of artificial intelligence as well as the changing demands from the company’s customers

In the entire technology industry, there is an aggressive trend of personnel cuts, among other things, against the background of the changes that artificial intelligence brings with it. At the same time, the current layoffs at Amdocs do not come from nowhere. In August 2025, the company reported that it was considering cutting hundreds of employees around the world, including in Israel, as part of a transformation process designed to adapt its operations to the age of artificial intelligence. The company then directly linked the efficiency with the growing investment in the field of AI and the establishment of a dedicated GenAI & Data division.

At that time, Amdocs explained that it was working to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities “deeply into the company’s DNA”, and that the change would also require adjustments to the organizational structure and manpower. According to the company’s announcement at the time, the goal was to make Amdocs a leading player in the field of AI for telecom and media companies around the world. At the same time, the company emphasized at the time that this was a strategic move built over a period of time, and not a one-off step. Amdocs stated that it “frequently adapts its activities to the opportunities and challenges in its business environment”, and that the efficiency is intended to maintain competitiveness and support the company’s new growth areas.

In 2023, the company laid off about 2,700 workers worldwide, of which about 300 were in Israel, in 2024 it cut over 1,500 additional jobs, of which about 100 were in Israel, and as mentioned also in 2025 it announced its intention to lay off hundreds of workers in Israel.

Amdocs stated: “The new leadership of Amdocs is currently leading a broad move to redesign the company’s activity model, as part of its preparation for the next stage in market development and to strengthen its global leadership. As part of this move, a strengthening of the status and strategic importance of the activity in Israel is also expected. Naturally, at this stage it is not possible to refer to concrete details, as some of the processes are still in the stages of examination and consolidation.”
