Tom Holland reveals the addiction and withdrawal from alcohol

Tom Holland (29) was interviewed on comedian Amy Fuller’s “Good Hang” podcast, where he was asked what made him start Bero, his non-alcoholic beverage company. “I stopped drinking because I had a problem, I just couldn’t put the glass down and it affected my professional life. It affected my personal life. And my health,” he admitted.

Holland shared about the difficulties that accompanied him at the beginning of the road to sobriety, and how they led him to his business venture. “I decided to stop it and went through the first year, which I think was the hardest challenge I’ve ever faced,” Holland continued. “During this first year, I noticed that there were limited options for people like me who were looking for something that would satisfy that need, that would help you live or go to a bar and be part of the social experience, but not feel like the only person drinking lemonade.”

“The story is that Z (Zendaya) never drank,” said Holland, “she was never a drinker… which means she never connected to the taste of beer. Everyone remembers their first beer, it’s a little… not very tasty. And then you get drunk and you say, okay, come on, let’s go.”

Although Zendaya doesn’t drink herself, Holland was quick to clarify that she fully supports him in the journey and in the business: “She’s proud, but there’s just some missing link, like, she just doesn’t enjoy the things I’m trying to sell,” he concluded with a laugh.
