Lionel Richie postpones his next two concerts after feeling unwell on stage

The evening was supposed to be a party but it was cut short. Lionel Richie was taken ill on Wednesday during the first date of a series of concerts with the group Earth, Wind and Fire. The 77-year-old singer felt unwell while performing Dancing on the Ceiling at the Grand Casino Arena in St Paul, Minnesota.

About an hour after starting his show, Lionel Richie sat down on stage, explaining that it is recommended in case of dizziness. According to participants, he then performed one last song on the piano before requesting an intermission. Forty-five minutes later, the saxophonist of Dino Soldo returned to the stage to announce that the concert would not resume. “Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue the show.”he declared.

Since the incident, the artist’s teams have not provided any news on his state of health. For its part, Live Nation, which produces the twenty-six date tour scheduled in the United States and Canada, announced the postponement of the concerts scheduled for Friday June 26 in Chicago and Saturday June 27 in Columbus, on advice from the artist’s doctors.

Lionel Ritchie will return to the stage with the group Earth, Wind & Fire on Tuesday June 30 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. “Lionel is sorry to have to postpone these two concerts and can’t wait to see his fans again. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to ticket holders. New dates will be announced soon,” explain the organizers.
