‘Liberevento’ from 26 June to 26 August in 12 municipalities in southern Sardinia

The municipalities in which this edition will take place are Calasetta, Fluminimaggiore, Gonnesa, Iglesias, Masainas, Narcao, Perdaxius, Portoscuso, Sant’Anna Arresi, Sarroch, Teulada, Capoterra, Cagliari. The choice of places where the festival events take place offers the public new stimuli and breathtaking scenery. The festival stops in the most iconic places of Southern Sardinia: the Temple of Antas in Fluminimaggiore, the Asproni Mining Village and the Cloister of San Francesco in Iglesias, the Tonnara Su Pranu in Portoscuso, the Nuraghe Seruci and the Normann Mining Village in Gonnesa, the Villa Siotto in Sarroch, the garden of the Baronial House in Teulada, the Is Solinas Beach in Masainas, the Rosas Mining Village in Narcao, the San Leonardo Park in Perdaxius, the Savoy Tower of Calasetta, the Piazza del Nuraghe in Sant’Anna Arresi, the Urban Park of Capoterra.

“After an entire year of work – declares Maura Porru, organizational director of the festival and president of the cultural association Contramilonga Ets – with emotion and a great sense of responsibility, I am happy to present the program of the Liberevento Festival, an awaited and consolidated summer event in Sardinia, which has always been an inclusive cultural presence and a space for sharing, listening and developing critical thinking. The XV edition of the festival claims, more than ever, the role of the word as an act of cultural resistance, with the awareness that books are not simple keepers of stories but indispensable compasses for orienting ourselves in the complexity of contemporaneity. Through the most authoritative voices of the literary, academic and journalistic world we will explore the transitions and challenges of our time, building together a mosaic of fruitful thoughts that helps us not to get lost, to learn to ask ourselves the right questions and to always cultivate dialogue.”

The objective of the Liberevento Festival is part of that unity of intent, now strong both in the institutions and in the associative realities, aimed on the one hand at strengthening a project of cultural democratization and approach to reading, and, on the other, at giving impetus and value to cultural tourism, through the offer of quality events and proposals, capable of attracting large flows of visitors and which contribute to identifying the Sulcis Iglesiente and Sardinia as a place of high-profile culture and cultured entertainment. The importance and vastness of the historical heritage of the area fits into this context. Given the presence of numerous museums and important archaeological and mining sites in the area, the Liberevento Festival, with a view to an “all-round cultural experience”, has always aimed to contribute to increasing the tourist offer of our territory, offering visitors a rich and varied range of activities which, reciprocally, encourage the visit of the territory and the enjoyment of cultural events
