La Neretina Festival in Nardò, 19-21 June: Sangiuliano, Borgonovo

From 19 to 21 June the Villa Comunale of Nardò will host the third edition of ‘La Neretina. Festival della Cultura Controcorrente’, an event that in just a few years has managed to carve out a central role in the Salento cultural panorama, becoming one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Apulian summer, thanks also to the overwhelming institutional support of the Municipality of Nardò and the Province of Lecce – Salento d’Amare, with the mayor Giuseppe “Pippi” Mellone and the councilor Pierpaolo Giuri who have supported the event since its inception.

The program of the 2026 edition opens on Friday 19 June with Francesco Borgonovo, one of the most well-known Italian editorialists, protagonist of a meeting dedicated to the themes of current affairs and contemporary thought around his volume ‘Aretè. Decadence and courage’ (Liberilibri). Great anticipation on Saturday for Gennaro Sangiuliano, essayist and former Minister of Culture who will talk about his latest tome focused on Erdogan published by Mondadori, and for Alessandro Sallusti, historical signature of Italian information, who will dialogue with Tgr Rai Puglia journalist Gianluca Veneziani reasoning on the pages of the text ‘The liberal heresy’ (Rizzoli) written by the editor of Libero himself. Sunday 21 June, however, will see among the guests Federico Palmaroli aka Osho, a communication phenomenon and satirical author capable of describing Italy with irony and immediacy, in the pages of the book ‘Awanagana. Surreal chronicle of a real world’ (Rai Libri). There will also be space for literature and in-depth analysis with Flavio De Marco, who will debate the figure of Carmelo Bene together with the mayor of Lecce Adriana Poli Bortone, while the grand finale will be entrusted to Mino Taveri, a much-loved face of Italian television, protagonist of an evening dedicated to sport and the story of contemporary football together with the Nerazzurri journalist Raffaele Pappadà.

Three intense days of meetings, books, dialogues and entertainment that will make Nardò an authentic capital of Salento culture, confirming La Neretina as a permanent laboratory of ideas and free discussion, open to all cultural sensitivities, explain the organizers.
