The Treasures of the Pharaohs: 400 thousand visitors, USA and virtual tour

The exhibition will arrive at ‘De Young Museum’ in San Francisco, where it will be presented from 1 August 2026 to 31 January 2027, and at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas where it can be admired from 14 March to 19 September 2027. Transfers presented today, during a press conference in which an assessment was made of the exhibition produced by Ales, an in-house company of the Ministry of Culture with MondoMostre and in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, by Fabio Tagliaferri, president of Ales SpA, Matteo Lafranconi, director of the Scuderie del Quirinale, and by Simone Todorow, CEO of MondoMostre.

This is an opportunity to present another novelty and to anticipate that the next project of the Scuderie del Quirinale in the pipeline will concern the painter of the Florentine school Jacopo Carucci known as Pontormo. The 130 masterpieces of ancient Egyptian art – coming from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the Luxor Museum, many exhibited for the first time outside the Land of the Pyramids – can be admired from Monday 15 June in a virtual tour active on the Ales and Ministry of Culture website. A virtual ‘tour’ which also concerns two other exhibitions presented at the Scuderie del Quirinale: ‘Global Baroque’ and ‘Nineteenth Century Naples’ which can be ‘visited’ virtually from 12 June. “We have created – explained Fabio, president of Ales SpA – virtual tours offering the possibility of visiting these exhibitions through an immersive experience forever, making them eternal. A person will have the possibility, after days, months and years, to see the works on display again as if they were at the Scuderie del Quirinale. The aim is to allow those who do not have the physical possibility of seeing an exhibition here to perhaps admire it at home. We will give these virtual tours – Tagliaferri then announced – as gifts to the pediatric hospitals of Lazio so that people with a simple iPad can see the exhibitions”.

As for the future, after the exhibition on the Pharaohs, the Scuderie del Quirinale will get to work on the next project of which the director of the Scuderie, Matteo Lafranconi, gave some brief previews. “We are working – he said – on the return of a great protagonist of the early Florentine Renaissance, namely Pontormo, an artist much celebrated in exhibitions that have placed the emphasis on the Florentine sixteenth century but not yet in a monographic that would reveal its importance and centrality. We hope, with this title, to provide an important offer to the international public who frequents the city”. Offer which should take shape next October. The exhibition on the Pharaohs, recalled the CEO of Mondo Mostre Simone Todorow, “was the result of an incredible public-private collaboration, a work born with a team spirit” based on “a truly unique objective. We managed to intercept an audience that usually does not participate in this type of initiative, thanks to a promotion and communication activity and obviously thanks to the fascination of ancient Egypt”.
