Queen Sofía will preside over the concert of the Teatro Real at Carnegie Hall

Queen Sofia will support the presentation of the Royal Theater in the United States, presiding over the concert and gala dinner at Carnegie Hall in New York on September 15 and a performance of the Authentic Flamenco tour at the Ángel Orensanz Foundation on September 14 .

The concert at Carnegie Hall, called ‘A Celebration of Spanish Music’, and the flamenco performances, under the title of Authentic Flamenco, in New York, Washington and Dallas, are part of National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States and on the 40th Anniversary of the Twinning of Madrid and New York.

The Teatro Real will offer a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York on September 15, entirely dedicated to Spanish music, with its main orchestra, the pianist Javier Perianes and the soprano Sabina Puértolas, under the direction of Juanjo Mena.

In addition, as an international extension of its Flamenco Real cycle, the Theater will offer, in co-production with Fever, more than 50 performances of the Autentic Flamenco program in New York, Washington DC and Dallas, starring Amador Rojas and Yolanda Osuna (direction, choreography and dance). , José Tomás Jiménez (musical direction and guitar), Manu Soto and Bernardo Miranda (singing), Sergio de Lope (co-musical direction, sax and flute) and Lolo Plantón (percussion).

The Royal Theater has explained that, with this tour, it intends to strengthen its presence in the United States, “attracting tourists and music lovers to Madrid”, and also publicizing its MyOperaPlayer platform. This first visit by the Teatro Real to New York is sponsored by the Madrid City Council –with the presence of its mayor, José Luis Martínez Almeida–, by El Corte Inglés and Iberia, and with the support of the AHCES foundation.
