Former Dead Kennedys and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Darren Henley, known as DH Hazard, dies

Drummer Darren Henley, well known by his stage name DH Hazard, passed away last Friday, October 28, at his Los Angeles home after suffering a severe injury from an unintentional fall.

This past Saturday, the passing of Darren Henley, drummer for the venerable American punk band “Dead Kennedys,” was revealed on their official Twitter account. The band expressed gratitude for the consoling words and feelings of support and said that the specifics of the funeral will be revealed in the next few days.

In light of the untimely passing of the iconic drummer, who was 63 years old, the group asks for understanding for the musician’s family’s need for solitude during this trying time.

**Darren Henley, a Saint Louis, Missouri, native, joined the Dead Kennedys in 1981 and stayed with them until they disbanded in 1986. The Dead Kennedys are known for their albums Plastic Disasters, Frankenchrist, and Bedtime for Democracy.

Except for a gap between 2008 and 2009, Peligro rejoined the Dead Kennedys when they reformed in 2001 minus Jello Biagra.

Along with the Dead Kennedys, Peligro was a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, joining the group in 1988 as Jack Irons’ replacement on the drums and contributing to the album Mother’s Milk, which was released the following year. He was replaced by Chad Smith, who is still the drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers today, after his involvement in this band came to an end due to some drug and alcohol issues.

The Hellations, Jungle Studs, Nailbomb, The Feederz, Lock-Up, The Two Free Stooges, Reverend Jones, and SSI are just a few of the rock bands he pointedly contributed music to.
