The Government grants aid for more than 10 million euros to 476 cinemas

The Ministry of Culture and Sports has made public on the website of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) the resolution of the direct concession of more than 10 million euros in aid to 476 cinemas.

For this line of aid, the ICAA has allocated a total amount of 10,097,695.41 euros from the Institute’s expense budget corresponding to 2022. Of these, 9,927,695.41 euros have been allocated to 215 beneficiary companies, and 170,000 euros , to 17 non-profit entities.

Thus, the 232 applications granted correspond to 476 cinematographic exhibition halls or cinematographic complexes distributed throughout the territory.

By autonomous community, the aid is distributed among 82 cinemas in Andalusia, 29 in Galicia, ten in the Principality of Asturias, four in Cantabria, 30 in the Basque Country, ten in the Foral Community of Navarra, four in La Rioja, 18 in Aragon, 84 from Catalonia, 56 from the Valencian Community, 15 from the Region of Murcia, ten from Extremadura, 30 from Castilla y León, 21 from Castilla-La Mancha, 51 from the Community of Madrid, nine from the Canary Islands, twelve from the Islands Balearic Islands and one from the Autonomous City of Ceuta.

The objective of these grants is “to guarantee the activity of exhibition halls as fundamental agents of the dissemination of cultural diversity, especially while the habit of returning to movie theaters is recovered and all the adverse effects of the pandemic are overcome. in this area”, as explained by the Government.
