5 ‘killers’ that can silently cause cancer if abused

Eating moldy nuts, using processed meat, drinking alcohol, using too hot foods and inhaling cigarette smoke are 5 habits that can easily cause cancer if abused.

Cancer currently ranks first in the group of leading causes of death, so adjusting diet and living habits plays a particularly important role. According to nutritionist Liu Ya Hui (Taiwan, China), daily life contains many hidden risks of cancer, which we are accidentally exposed to every day without knowing it.

Sharing on his personal page, expert Liu Ya Hui noted 5 common risk factors:

Aflatoxins from nuts and grains

Many people think that cancer-causing agents are far away, but in fact they appear right in the kitchen.

Aflatoxins are often produced from improperly stored peanuts, nuts or cereals. It is best to use up this food within a week after opening the package.

When you discover signs of mold in food, absolutely do not just peel off the mold and continue eating the rest, because Aflatoxin may have spread to the entire product; The only safe disposal is complete disposal.

Prepared meat

Foods such as sausages, bacon, hot dogs or ham all belong to group 1 carcinogens.

Consuming 50 grams of processed meat per day can increase the risk of colorectal cancer by up to 18%. Experts recommend not eating these foods regularly every day.

Wine, beer and alcoholic beverages

Alcohol is a group 1 carcinogen that has been identified and is directly linked to 7 types of cancer, including: oral cavity cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, rectal cancer and breast cancer.

The more you drink, the higher your risk of related cancers. In particular, people who blush easily when drinking alcohol because their bodies lack the enzyme that metabolizes acetaldehyde will be at higher risk of cancer.

Habit of drinking too hot drinks (over 65 degrees Celsius)

People who like to drink water that is too hot should pay special attention. Drinks with temperatures above 65 degrees Celsius will continuously irritate and damage the esophageal mucosa, increasing the risk of developing esophageal cancer.

Cigarette smoke

Smoking, inhaling passive smoke, or cigarette smoke stuck in the environment are all group 1 carcinogens. Cigarette smoke contains more than 7,000 chemical compounds, of which 93 are identified as carcinogens. Therefore, not only smokers need to pay attention, but also people around them who inhale cigarette smoke or residues from cigarette smoke in living spaces are also seriously affected.

Liu Ya Hui emphasized that the concern is not that one-time exposure will cause cancer immediately, but rather the accumulation over time from repeated daily habits.

“Maintaining health does not mean abstaining from absolutely everything, but understanding where the risks lie to proactively reduce and minimize them,” she shared.
