MADA conducts exercises to rescue people during power and communication failures

A blackout – a total power outage – can occur under several scenarios: natural disasters, earthquakes, extreme weather conditions, and war. To this end, the Magen David Adom ambulance service has been preparing for such scenarios for some time, so as not to delay the arrival of medical teams at the scene.

In particular, MADA is preparing to activate alternative means of communication to coordinate arriving teams and manage emergency lines in the event of multiple simultaneous calls.

In order to practice the actions of all employees and volunteers of the organization, MADA conducts exercises in different cities and towns of the country. In recent weeks, such exercises have been carried out in Harish and Modi’in: Magen David Adom practiced the scenario of receiving many wounded from rocket attacks in several areas without power supply or electronic communications.

In order to continue operating during a possible blackout, MADA purchased and installed generators, backup power systems and medical equipment. MADA also trains specialists working at Magen David Adom stations in the field to work in situations of power and communication interruptions.
