FootballPikkuhelmarit finally opened their goal account in the European Championships, but it was not enough to win against France.
Little hemlets The EC tournament in Northern Ireland ended with a third consecutive defeat. France beat Finland 4–1 and advanced to the semi-finals of the under-17 games as group winners.
France controlled the match from the opening minutes. Margot Collin took his team into the lead in the 21st minute after Finland lost the ball badly. Dienebou Niakate completed France’s second ten minutes later.
Manchester City striker promise Rachael Adini scored a 3–0 goal from the penalty kick in extra time of the first half. Finnish goalkeeper Kaisla Lyytikäinen was very involved in the shot, but didn’t quite get in front of the ball.
Pikkuhelmarit got into the game in the second half, when the one playing in the National League in Ilves Hertta Ahonen scored Finland’s opening goal of the tournament in the 66th minute. Ahonen’s, 15, hit was also the only Finnish goal of the games.
Adedini completed the final readings in the 81st minute. France, who won group B, will meet Norway in the EC semi-finals on Thursday.
In the second semi-final, the powerhouses of the age group, Germany and Spain, will meet.
Little hemlars played in the under-17 European Championship for the third time in its history.
In addition to the host country, only seven teams will make it to the final tournament, so just getting there is a significant achievement.
The biggest achievement of the little ladies in the under-17 competitions is the 2018 European Championship bronze.
