The Italian Cup belongs to Inter, Lazio beaten 2-0

Inter scores ten. The Nerazzurri triumphed though 2-0 over Lazio at the Olimpico and they conquer the tithe Italian Cup of their history. Marusic’s own goal and Lautaro Martinez’s second goal were decisive, both in the first half, in a one-sided game for a good part of the 90 minutes. Sarri finds Zaccagni and lines him up in the trident with Isaksen and Noslin. Chivu sends Thuram, in doubt until yesterday, from the 1st minute together with Lautaro.

Errors

After about ten minutes at a slow pace, in the 12th minute the Nerazzurri’s first opportunity arrived with a header from Lautaro which ended up on the goal. Inter takes the field and breaks the deadlock in the 14th minute. Corner by Dimarco, shot by Thuram towards the small area, where Marusic misses the header putting the ball into his own goal. Lazio tries to react but the opportunity to double occurs in the 24th minute at the feet of Dumfries: a right-foot volley to cross and the ball is rejected by Tavares. The Nerazzurri are on the ball and in the 35th minute the second goal arrives. Dumfries snatches the ball from the feet of a inattentive Tavares and flies towards the area, before serving Lautaro who, with the goal now empty, scores for 2-0. In the 39th minute Motta blocks a shot from Zielinski, while in the 45th minute Lazio tries with Isaksen, but his diagonal right-footed shot finds Bastoni’s deflection and ends up in a corner.

The start of the second half was also Nerazzurri-inspired. The Nerazzurri maintained the aggressive attitude of the first half, while Lazio struggled to make themselves seen. Inter came close to making it three in the 70th minute with new substitute Luis Enrique, who missed the target from a few steps following a volley from an excellent Dimarco, who in turn was served by Barella. On the other hand, a chance wasted by Dia, another substitute in the match, who kicks the ball at Martinez from a few steps away. Martinez’s fort resisted until the end: Inter won their tenth Italian Cup and, with the scudetto already in the safe, scored the deserved double.
