Jannik Sinner is preparing for his debut at Wimbledon 2026. The Italian champion will return to the court on Monday 29 June to begin the process of defending his title in London, against the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic: “I have to concentrate on the opponent” said the number one in the ATP rankings in the press conference. “It will be a difficult match, but it will help us get into a bit of rhythm.”
Sinner will open the tournament as reigning champion, playing on Centrale: “For a year I’ve known that I’ll play at 1.30pm on Monday, it’s nice to be back here. I’ve already been on Centrale on Thursday, when there was no one there and I saw the pitch, all beautiful and clean. Maybe it’s even more beautiful this way, it was an emotion. Now we’ll need to start well, I know how difficult it is to go far in this tournament”.
Sinner focused on the changes in preparation, after the health problems and the surprise elimination at Roland Garros: “I don’t like to talk about what exactly we changed. From a physical point of view we changed something, we did everything together without breaks to try and feel many things. We’ll see how I react on the pitch.” And again, regarding training: “You can’t simulate 100% what you feel in a match. We’ve made changes, but not big ones. They’re details. We’re happy with what we’re doing, it’s a long process and we won’t see the results now. We’re doing our best. I feel prepared. It will be difficult, but we’re ready.”
