Switzerland will replace Russia in the last EHT tournament of the season

Early in May, the Swedish EHT event will take place.

The Swedish Hockey Association has announced that Switzerland will take the place of Russia in the Euro Hockey Tour in early May. On May 5, Finland will meet Switzerland in the tournament’s first match, which will be held at Tampere Arena, the main arena of the World Cup in Tampere.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Finnish, Swedish, and Czech hockey associations voted to remove Russia from the EHT tour.

“From the team’s perspective, it’s fantastic that we’ll get to play one World Cup match before the race begins.” “It’s simpler to go to a competition when the surroundings is familiar,” Lions Sports Director Jere Lehtinen said in a statement released by the hockey association.

The Czech EHT tournament will be held from April 28 to January 1st, just before the Swedish EHT tournament.

The Lions’ World Cup preparations will begin with two away matches in Denmark on the 13th and 14th of April.

Russia and Belarus have also been ruled out of the Tampere and Helsinki World Cups.
