Sergio Llull surpasses Navarro as the most triple player in the history of the Euroleague

This Tuesday, Real Madrid point guard Sergio Llull became the player with the most triples scored in the history of the Euroleague, with 624, during the first game of the ‘Playoff’ of the highest continental competition against Baskonia, a figure that allows him to surpass Juan Carlos Navarro.

In this way, the 36-year-old from Menorca rises to the top of the list of top triple jumpers in the history of the competition, ahead of ‘la Bomba’ (623). Furthermore, his Madrid teammates Sergio Rodríguez (602) and Rudy Fernández (593) occupy the third and fourth places, respectively, in the ‘top’.

The Real Madrid coach, Chus Mateo, was full of praise for Mahón’s player after the game at the WiZink Center. “The qualifiers with Sergi are over. He is a player that when time passes and we are all in other facets, hopefully it will be too late and that he too has left basketball, we will remember him as one of the best players in the world with the shots he makes, with the control of the game and the situations, with how he is able to handle certain situations and with what he always does, avoiding negative feelings affecting him, always fighting with maximum courage,” he noted.

“What he does with the locker room, with his teammates, with his coaches, pushing, demanding as much as possible… Few players are capable of bringing all these aspects together in one. And Sergi, the day he retires, will surely “He will be one of the players who will have to put a statue here at the entrance to the WiZink Center or in the Real Madrid Sports City, because he is a crazy player,” he continued.

The white captain has played 403 games in 17 seasons in the Euroleague, all with the Real Madrid shirt. His average of three-pointers is 1.6 per game, with a 33.5% success rate, and his record in a single game was the six he achieved against Darussafaka on February 24, 2017.
