Cyberpunk 2077, PS5 Pro version available

CD Projekt RED has formalized the release of the update dedicated to PlayStation 5 Pro for Cyberpunk 2077, available starting from April 8th. The technical intervention focuses on the integration of the latest generation architectures provided by Sony’s mid-generation hardware, starting with the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. This upscaling system based on artificial intelligence intervenes on the definition of every single pixel to return a 4K output resolution, guaranteeing superior image clarity both in large urban scenarios and in the smallest details of polygonal models, from sports vehicles to complex environmental effects.

A central pillar of the package of improvements concerns the lighting sector, a key element of the aesthetic identity of the dystopian metropolis of Night City. Thanks to the adoption of BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) support, the developers have significantly improved the management of light rays, shadows and dynamic reflections. This technology allows the visual rendering on consoles to be brought closer to the original artistic vision of the Polish studio, taking advantage of the greater computing capacity to simulate the behavior of natural and artificial light with a more accurate physical precision than the standard versions, drastically influencing the immersion in the darkest and most neon-saturated areas of the city.

The technical offer is divided into three distinct graphic configurations, designed to accommodate the different user priorities. Ray Tracing Pro mode represents the highest aesthetic expression available on console, simultaneously activating ambient occlusion, global illumination and dynamic shadows at a target of 40 frames per second on VRR-equipped screens. For those who prefer responsive controls, Performance mode allows you to reach 90 fps while maintaining high visual fidelity. Finally, the intermediate mode called Ray Tracing offers a balance point, guaranteeing the stable 60 frames with an optimized selection of advanced effects. The title is currently accessible at no additional cost for subscribers to the Extra and Premium levels of the PlayStation Plus service.
