GPT-5.5 Instant, ChatGPT’s new default model, is smarter and more precise and contextualizes your responses

OpenAI has announced GPT-5.5 Instant, the new default model of the ChatGPT ‘chatbot’ which, in addition to being more “intelligent and precise”, offers more adapted answers to user questions and makes them more personalized with the context.

GPT-5.5 Instant is a new variant of the GPT-5.5 model that incorporates improvements in visual reasoning, mathematics and science that allow you to be “smarter and capable of performing everyday tasks.”

The company has highlighted the answers it offers, “more concise and direct”, which better fit what the user has asked, with less “verbiage” and hallucinations to make them more useful, as explained in a statement.

It also improves interaction, since the tone is adapted to the user and their search, but what represents a more significant advance in this model is the context. According to OpenAI, GPT-5.5 Instant can use the context of previous chats, files, and Gmail -as long as access has been given– so that the responses are more personalized.

“This is especially useful for get personalized suggestions and plans, or to pick up where you left off,” the company says.

GPT-5.5 Instant has replaced GPT-5.3 Instant as ChatGPT default model for all users.
