The divergences between the two products are limited to marginal details that do not alter the substance of the hardware. Visible cosmetic changes include a slight flash shift and a partially redesigned speaker grille. Internally, while maintaining the same technical specifications, the chipset package of Trump’s phone is supplied by Micron, while HTC has relied on SK Hynix. The most significant change lies in the battery: the T1 Phone features a slightly larger cell produced in the Philippines instead of China, which however supports slower charging, limited to 30W.

The overlap of the two models was largely predictable, given the similarities in the design of the body, the sharing of the same specifications and the unusual presence of the audio jack and the microSD slot on both. Although HTC has said in the past that it does not design or produce smartphones for third parties, the downsizing of its mobile division years ago suggests it will use an external manufacturer. It is likely that both HTC and Trump Mobile turned to the same Asian company, raising inevitable questions about the actual place of assembly of the device.
