Final Fantasy XIV will expand support for solo play with the Trust system

The massively multiplayer role-playing video game (MMORPG) Final Fantasy XIV developed by the Japanese company Square Enix, will expand support for solo players through the Trust system in its next updates.

The producer and director of the title, Naoki Yoshida has anticipated which direction the game will take soon, as well as the novelties that will be integrated in the different patches that they plan to launch up to the 7.0 expansion of the game, in an event broadcast on YouTube.

One of the details that you commented on in this meeting, which will be completed with another ‘Producer’s letter’ which will be broadcast live on March 4, refers to the expansion of the Trust System (Trust System) since the first of these patches, 6.1.

This is an option designed to offer an individual game experience that allows you to create dungeons with a group of non playable characters (NPC, for its acronym in English) that would act as players. They are not characters manipulated by the player himself, but controlled by the game engine itself.

This system, which was already part of the expansions Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, will receive a massive performance that will make it compatible with all missions and four-player trials starting with patch 6.1, which is scheduled for release in April 2022.

The implementation of the Trust system will not affect eight-player games in patch 2.0 Final Fantasy XIV: A Real Reborn 2.0although the company will take it into account for the final update or later releases of the game.

According to the manager at this meeting, the goal for the Final Fantasy XIV expansion is to create “an RPG even better alone or with friends” and, for this reason, the company seeks to end the MMORPG formula.

The company will continue to present the following patches, up to 6.5. in the coming months, in which it is planned to include updates in Island Sanctuary, Faux Hollows, Myths of the Realm, Trials or the new dungeon Criterion.

Likewise, Yoshida has indicated that he plans to continue innovating for the next ten years and that the next updates of the title will focus on improved graphics and the characterization of the characters.

In this way, the textures of the characters and other elements of the game will present higher resolution and the quality of the materials, whether leather, metal or other fabrics, will be improved.

Different optimizations will also be carried out in the lighting effects as additional light points will be added to improve visual quality, depth and immersion.

On the other hand, we are going to work on creating shadows of the higher resolution characters, to offer more movement and less flicker effects during the game, as well as in the resolution and variety of the vegetation that the scenarios present and other environmental effects (including fog).

Through this event, the company has also announced that the free trial of Final Fantasy XIV will be available to all players from this Tuesday February 22 following a server congestion issue with the release of the Endwalker expansion.

The paid version of the game, on the other hand, is already available since last January 25when new servers were opened after a month with sales paralyzed by this collapse in mid-December.

Another of the aspects that Matsuda has dealt with in this meeting has been the incorporation of the video game in the NFT universe, games with ‘blockchain’ technology or the metaverse, since Square Enix did anticipate that Those would be the foundations on which his work could be built in 2022.

For his part, the producer of Final Fantasy XIV has stressed that he rules out incorporating elements of this type into the game. “If anyone is concerned about that, I can clearly say that we have no intention of integrating that into the game at this time. There are no NFTs in FFXIV so don’t worry”, assured the manager in this online event.
