Messenger now lets you send HD photos, create shared albums and share files up to 100MB | TECHNOLOGY

Meta has implemented new features to make it easier to send photos in Messenger, with options that allow you to send HD images, create albums shared with other users in chats, and share larger files of up to 100MB.

The Meta messaging social network continues to implement new features in order to enrich the experience in the app, in this case, when sending files in chats, so that users can “further improve their conversations and connections.” for example, sending clearer and sharper photos in high definition.

In this sense, Meta has announced that, now, users will be able to start sending HD quality photos through Messenger chats, similar to another of Meta’s messaging services, WhatsApp. Likewise, the new function also allows you to select additional photos to send multiple HD images at the same time.

As the technology company has explained in a statement on its website, to send photos in HD, all you have to do is select the image you want to send and, after that, activate the HD option located in the upper right corner of the screen.

Another new feature that the company has announced is the ability to create photo albums shared with other contacts and friends. Currently, when users share photos on Messenger, they are stored in the chat out of order, depending on the course of the conversation.

However, with shared albums, Meta aims to make it easier for users to organize memories and moments shared through the app’s chats and groups. Thus, as the platform has exemplified, users can create photo and video albums, whether to remember a family member’s birthday or the moments captured on a friends trip.

As detailed by the technology company, to create an album in a chat, you must select the images and videos you want to enter and click on the ‘Create album’ option. Following this line, to add photos to an existing album, just click on the ‘Add to album’ function and, after that, select the corresponding album. Additionally, users can set a specific name for each shared album.

The company has also clarified that, once the shared album has been created, all chat participants can view, add, delete and download the stored images and videos. Likewise, all the albums created in said conversation can be found in the ‘Media’ tab of the chat.

On the other hand, Messenger users can also start sending larger files in their conversations, specifically with a size of up to 100MB. In this case, all major formats are supported, be it Word, PDF or Excel, among others.

Finally, Meta has added a new option to add new contacts via QR codes. With this tool, users will not have to type the name or phone number of other users to start chatting, but they will be able to add other people by directly scanning the Messenger QR code of the new user in question.

In the same way, if they are not in the same place to scan the QR code, users will not have to share their personal data, but will be able to share their QR code directly through a link. The QR code can be accessed from the Messenger Settings menu.

With all this, Meta has begun to implement these new functions for all users in Messenger, although the option to create shared albums will arrive during “the next few weeks.”
